What jewellery can be remodelled?
Most pieces containing precious metals and gemstones can be considered for remodelling. Each piece is assessed individually to determine suitability based on condition, material, and design feasibility. Items that are severely damaged or of unsuitable proportion may not be appropriate for reuse.
Why choose to remodel existing jewellery?
Remodelling allows you to transform pieces with personal, historical, or sentimental value into new jewellery or silverware that suits your taste and lifestyle. It provides an opportunity to retain meaningful materials while creating something distinctive and contemporary.
How can I determine the type and quality of the existing stones?
The stones in your existing jewellery must be inspected by our team or an approved gemmological professional. This evaluation establishes the type, quality, and suitability of the stones for remounting, engraving, or other modifications.
Is it possible to reuse the metal from my original piece?
Where feasible, the metal from your original piece can be melted down and incorporated into the new design. The usability of the metal depends on its purity, condition, and the technical requirements of the new piece. The possibilities for reuse also depend on the design and structure of the piece it will become. We will advise if additional metal is required.
What is the expected timeframe for a remodelling project?
Timeframes vary depending on the complexity of the design, the number and type of materials involved, and production schedules. Once the design and scope of work are agreed, we provide an estimated timeline before work begins.
Are there any other considerations I should be aware of?
Please note that the minimum fee for remodelling a piece is £500.
How do I begin a jewellery remodelling commission?
To start, contact us with details of your piece and your intentions for remodelling. Where appropriate, we may request photographs or arrange an inspection. Following this, we will advise on feasibility, materials, and options before providing a detailed proposal and quotation.
