Responcible jewellery
At Breners of London we remain attentive to the environmental and social impact of how our jewellery and silverware is made. Responsibility, for us, is not a marketing position but a practical consideration embedded in materials, scale, and process.
We work on a made-to-order basis wherever possible, avoiding unnecessary production and excess stock. All Breners of London pieces are made in the United Kingdom, in collaboration with skilled craftspeople using traditional techniques.
We use recycled precious metals as standard where available and will always advise clients where alternative options may be appropriate. We also welcome the use of heirloom or recycled gemstones, whether supplied by the client or sourced by us, subject to assessment for suitability and durability.
RECYCLED GOLD & PRECIOUS METALS
Gold, silver, and platinum are inherently renewable materials. Recycled precious metals are identical in quality and appearance to newly mined metal and are completely indistinguishable once refined.
By using recycled gold, silver, and platinum wherever possible, we reduce demand for newly mined material and the environmental and social harm associated with extractive practices. All scrap metal generated through our making process is recycled where feasible, minimising waste and ensuring material is kept in circulation.
DIAMONDS & GEMSTONES
NATURAL DIAMONDS
Breners of London sources natural diamonds through trusted UK and international dealers who adhere to established industry standards. Our natural diamonds are either already in circulation or sourced through suppliers who comply with the Kimberley Process, ensuring they are conflict-free.
For transparency and quality assurance:
All main-stone natural white diamonds are supplied with either a GIA or GCS certificate
Our minimum standard for white diamonds is J colour and VS clarity
We do not work with laboratories or suppliers that inflate grading standards.
LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS
Lab-grown diamonds are chemically and physically identical to natural diamonds and are graded using the same criteria of cut, colour, clarity, and carat.
All lab-grown diamonds supplied by Breners of London:
Meet the same minimum quality standards as our natural diamonds
Are certified by IGI
Lab-grown diamonds offer an alternative for clients seeking different price points or design possibilities, and we are happy to advise on their suitability depending on the intended piece.
HEIRLOOM & RECYCLED STONES
We are pleased to work with existing gemstones, whether family heirlooms or stones already owned by the client, provided they are suitable for the intended design. Each stone is assessed for condition, durability, and setting requirements before being approved for use.
Where appropriate, we can also source antique or old-cut diamonds or gems for clients seeking stones with character, history, and visible provenance.
OUR WORKSHOPS & CRAFTSMANSHIP
All Breners of London jewellery and silverware is made in the UK, either by our own hands or in collaboration with specialist craftspeople based primarily in London.
All artisans are paid fairly and in accordance with UK law, and we work exclusively with small, independent workshops rather than factories or large-scale production facilities. This allows us to maintain close oversight of quality, process, and ethical standards.
PACKAGING & DELIVERY
Our packaging is designed to be protective, discreet, and considered.
Where possible:
Outer packaging is recyclable
Materials are selected for durability rather than disposability
Jewellery boxes are intended to be kept and reused, not discarded
Each piece is packed securely to ensure safe transit, whether collected privately or shipped.
A CONSIDERED APPROACH
Breners of London creates jewellery and silverware rooted in myth, symbolism, and narrative, intended to endure physically and culturally. Responsibility is part of that permanence. Materials, craftsmanship, and sourcing are chosen not for novelty, but for their ability to stand the test of time.
